IRMO, SC – May 20, 2025 – The Irmo Town Council ratified a contract Tuesday night during an executive session, officially naming Jim Crosland as the town’s new administrator. Crosland will assume the position on July 7, following the departure of current administrator Courtney Dennis, who is stepping down to enter the private sector.
Crosland, a seasoned public servant with strong ties to Irmo, previously served as City Manager in Cayce and spent seven years with the Irmo Police Department from 2000 to 2007—overlapping with Dennis’s own tenure on the force.
“I was set to retire,” Crosland said. “But after talking with Mayor [Bill] Danielson and Courtney, I decided to come home.”
Dennis expressed strong support for his successor. “Jim is absolutely the best man for the job,” he said. “His professionalism is known throughout the Midlands and his dedication to public service is impeccable.”
During his career, Crosland has held a wide array of leadership roles, including Narcotics Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, Canine Handler, Police Instructor, and Assistant Director. He is a graduate of the 265th Session of the FBI National Academy, a Certified Public Manager, and an alumnus of the South Carolina Economic Development Institute.
“We worked together on the streets and I have the utmost respect for his steady approach to things,” said Dennis. “Now I have the opportunity to pass the baton to a qualified colleague whom I trust.”
