The Town of Irmo has announced the upcoming construction of a new professional-grade outdoor basketball court at Rawls Creek Park, located at 1113 Friarsgate Blvd. Designed as a high-quality community asset, the full-court facility will provide residents of all ages with a premier space for recreation, fitness, and athletic development.
To keep nearby residents informed, the Town will send official mailers in the coming days to households surrounding Rawls Creek Park. These notices will outline project details, timelines, and what neighbors can expect during construction.
“This project represents our commitment to providing enhanced recreational opportunities for our residents,” the Town stated. “By bringing a full-court, professional experience to Rawls Creek Park, we are creating a space where the community can gather, stay active, and take pride in our local amenities.”
Planned features of the new basketball court include:
- Regulation Full Court: A professional 84-foot by 50-foot playing surface with official regulation markings, including three-point arcs and free-throw lines.
- Pro-Level Equipment: Two Goalsetter MVP basketball goals with 72-inch backboards and breakaway rims.
- Enhanced Comfort: Four new in-ground, mounted steel benches for players and spectators.
- Quality Construction: High-performance base materials with a 10-year warranty on all work performed.
- Town Branding: Custom court design featuring official Town of Irmo logos.
The addition of the basketball court further strengthens Rawls Creek Park’s role as a versatile destination for outdoor recreation. The park already features a popular skatepark, scenic walking trails, a community garden, and two dedicated dog parks.
