Residents of Irmo now have a new way to stay informed about town government, public safety and community events with the launch of The Irmo Insider, a quarterly newsletter produced by the Town of Irmo.
Town officials say the publication is designed to provide consistent updates from Town Hall while highlighting the people, programs and partnerships that shape the community.
In the inaugural issue, Mayor Bill Danielson reflects on the generosity of Irmo residents and emphasizes the importance of supporting neighbors through initiatives such as “Irmo Believes” and the Mayor’s Uplift Initiative. He notes that maintaining the “Irmo charm” remains a priority as the town moves into the new year.
The first edition also introduces the newly established Irmo Mayor’s Youth Council. Fourteen local students have been selected to serve, gaining firsthand experience in civic engagement and leadership development.
Public safety is another focus of the newsletter. Police Chief Bobby Dale shares seasonal safety reminders, while the Irmo Fire District highlights its ISO Class 1 Rating — a designation that can positively impact property insurance rates for homeowners and businesses.
Community growth is also featured, with updates on several businesses planning to open in the area, including Dutch Bros Coffee, Ace Hardware and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The issue also recognizes Sergeant David Fairbanks as Employee of the Quarter for his leadership in training and mentoring within the Irmo Police Department.
In addition to town updates, the newsletter encourages residents to mark their calendars for upcoming spring events, including the Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival on March 21 at Irmo Town Park, the Sharpvue Irmo International Festival on April 26 at Moore Park and The Festival at Friar’s Gate, Irmo’s first Renaissance Faire, set for May 15–16.
Town leaders say The Irmo Insider reflects an ongoing commitment to transparency and community engagement, and they encourage residents to attend council meetings and stay involved in local initiatives.
The quarterly publication is expected to continue highlighting municipal updates, business development and community events throughout the year.
