Irmo, SC – Union United Methodist Church’s Union Day School is marking a major milestone with its 50th anniversary celebration on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The event will take place at the church’s Wesley Center (7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the entire community is invited to join the festivities.
Since its founding, Union Day School has provided compassionate care and quality early education to hundreds of children and families in the Irmo area. “We will celebrate the day by honoring past and present teachers, students, parents, volunteers, and supporters,” said Ann Copelan, a member of the Day School board.
Union Day School offers full-time childcare for infants up to age 3, as well as part-time programs for children one-year-old through 4K. “We give children their first exposure to education and social development within a Christian environment,” Copelan added. Currently, the school serves 177 children with a staff of 43 dedicated teachers and caregivers.
A close partnership with the congregation of Union United Methodist Church, the local community, and the parents has helped Union Day School grow and thrive. Copelan noted, “The support we receive from the church, community, and parents has enabled Union Day School to expand and offer affordable, quality childcare to working families.”
Union Day School is highly regarded as one of the best preschools in the area and continues to maintain a tradition of excellence through its dedicated staff and church backing.
