Dutch Fork, Lexington stay perfect in region, Irmo boys snap losing streak

Both the Dutch Fork girls and Lexington boys maintained their high standing both in the polls and in Region 4-5A.

Each posted victories Tuesday in Irmo in their respective matchups to remain unbeaten in region play. 

The fourth-ranked Lady Silver Foxes defeated defending Region 4-5A champion Lexington 48-33. It was a close contest through three quarters before Dutch Fork (18-4, 4-0) outscored Lexington (9-8, 3-1) 18-8 in the fourth quarter.

The boy’s game saw the top-ranked Wildcats roll to their eighth straight win in beating Dutch Fork 76-34.

In other Tuesday action, defending Class 4A boys basketball champion Irmo snapped a 10-game losing streak in its 49-39 road win over Lugoff-Elgin. Matthew Hopkins scored 11 points and dished out three assists and Jaden Henderson and Donovan Murph each had 10 points for the Yellow Jackets (4-16, 1-4).

The girls’ game saw Irmo come away with a 66-64 victory.
