Dutch Fork High School senior Andy Yang has been awarded two scholarships.
He has been named a Coca-Cola Scholar and will receive a $20,000 college scholarship and join a family of more than 6,900 alumni who are leading positive change in their communities and around the world.
He is one of 150 students from across the country who were selected from an initial pool of 103,800+ applications from across the country. Coca-Cola Scholars not only exemplify superior leadership, service, and academics, they are change agents, positively affecting others in their communities.
Yang also received a $10,000 scholarship from National Beta Club. The National Beta Scholarship Review Committee selected Yang as one of the 252 National Beta Scholarship recipients. Each year, National Beta awards more than $300,000 in scholarships to outstanding members in the 12th grade.
“National Beta members are among the top students in their respective schools. We’re thrilled that our program defrays some of the expense of these students’ first year in college and helps bring them closer to the attainment of their goals,” said National Beta CEO, Bobby Hart.
Yang plans to attend MIT in the fall.
“I am incredibly grateful for the scholarships I’ve received and the chance to attend the Coca-Cola weekend, where I met so many amazing scholars across the nation,” Yang said. “Their stories and achievements have inspired me and I am motivated more than ever to continue to contribute to my community and support those around me. This financial support significantly reduces my educational expenses, allowing me to focus on my dual passions for computer science and law. I’m really excited to delve deeper into these fields and make a meaningful impact in my community.”
