IRMO, S.C. — Residents and visitors are invited to welcome the arrival of spring at the 9th Annual Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival, scheduled for March 21, 2026, at Irmo Town Park.
The annual festival celebrates art, culture, and community while honoring the beauty, fragility, and preciousness of life—symbolized by the fleeting bloom of cherry blossoms. Building on the success of last year’s event, which drew an estimated 3,000 attendees from across North and South Carolina under ideal weather conditions, organizers anticipate another vibrant and engaging celebration.
Planned activities include a wide variety of attractions such as food trucks, a Japanese Import Car Drive-In, a cosplay contest, and cultural presentations highlighting kimono traditions and washi paper making. Attendees can also enjoy performances featuring popular and traditional Japanese music, including a special appearance by Japanese festival drummers.
In addition to entertainment, the festival offers educational opportunities for all ages. Informational booths will introduce visitors to Japanese culture, history, food, and art. The Japan America Association of South Carolina will be on hand to showcase artwork and everyday items from Japan, providing a deeper look into traditional and contemporary life.
The festival is made possible through continued support from the Town of Irmo, the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs, and the Japan America Association of South Carolina.
Organizers encourage the public to follow the Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival on Facebook and Instagram for updates, schedules, and additional event details as they become available.
The Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival takes place March 21, 2026, at Irmo Town Park and is open to the public.
