In a significant moment for the Town of Irmo, Mayor-elect Bill Danielson officially assumed office, taking the oath of office at the Irmo Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
Peggy Danielson, the supportive wife of the newly elected mayor, played a meaningful role in the ceremony by holding the Bible for her husband. Irmo Town Administrator Courtney Dennis, in a solemn act, administered the oath, formalizing Danielson’s commitment to serve as Mayor for the next four years.
Danielson, who previously served as a Town Councilman, emerged victorious in a successful campaign against incumbent Mayor Barry Walker during the November elections. Walker had dedicated 15 years to serving the town, with the last four as mayor.
The transition marks the end of Walker’s era and the beginning of a new chapter under Mayor Danielson’s leadership. Having served in the Town Council for the past four years, Danielson brings both experience and a fresh perspective to the mayor’s office.
