Center for Advanced Technical Studies Science Program Offering Dog Grooming Packages

IRMO — The Center for Advanced Technical Studies is offering dog grooming services and packages this spring through its Veterinary Science program in Lexington-Richland School District Five.

Under the guidance of Veterinary Science Instructor Jessica Hidalgo, students receive hands-on training in professional pet grooming, including safe animal handling, bathing, styling, and basic animal care. The program is designed to prepare students for future careers in veterinary and animal care fields while providing a valuable service to the community.

“Pet Grooming at The Center is a highly anticipated annual fundraising event performed by students in the Small Animal Care class,” Hidalgo said. “Not only does it create authentic learning experiences for students, but it also engages the community year after year. Students learn to recognize dog breeds and breed mixes, practice critical thinking, and solve real-world problems related to animal hygiene and care. These grooming techniques prepare them for future pet ownership and careers in animal and veterinary care. We are grateful for the continued support of School District Five and our community.”

Three grooming packages are available:

  • Basic Groom ($20): Bath, dry, and final brush

  • Standard Groom ($30): Ear cleaning, nail trim, bath, dry, and final brush
