Chamber honors local leaders at Annual Gala and Awards Night

On Friday, March 5, 2021, the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce honored outstanding Chamber partners at the 2021 Irmo Chamber Awards Night and Gala, presented by Steve Padgett’s Honda of Lake Murray, hosted by the Doubletree by Hilton. Honorees included the 2021 Ambassador of the Year, Diplomat of the Year, Order of the Okra, Coffee Talker of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, New Business of the Year and Small and Large Businesses of the Year.

“2020 was an incredibly challenging year for the Irmo Business Community and it was an honor and a pleasure to come together with these amazing people to celebrate the accomplishments and successes of our business leaders,” says Kerry Powers, Greater Irmo Chamber President and CEO.

This year, the Greater Irmo Chamber is privileged to present the prestigious Ambassador of the Year award to Alex Salmon, owner of the Salmon Allstate Agency in Ballentine and Salmon Photography in Irmo. Mr. Salmon served as Chair of the Irmo Chamber Board of Directors for 18 months and helped the Chamber navigate the pandemic and shut down of the business community.

The Ambassador of the Year award is given to an individual in the community who has contributed to the growth of the community and the Greater Irmo Chamber through action and/or service. Past Ambassador of the Year winners include Congressman Joe Wilson, Rep. Chip Huggins and Barbara Willm with Lexington Medical Center.

“Alex has been a dedicated supporter of the Irmo Chamber and he loves this community. He and his wife, Blair, are raising their boys here and he has invested his time and talent to encourage the success of the Irmo Business Community. We are grateful for his leadership,” says 2021 Irmo Chamber Chairwoman, Shelley Woodward with Inland Home Mortgage.
