Chapin American Legion Riders Hit the Road for a Cause

This weekend, the Chapin American Legion Post 193 Riders will rev up their engines and join fellow American Legion Riders from across South Carolina for the 2025 American Legion Legacy Ride. The Post 193 Riders will depart from Chapin, making their way to a lunch stop in Moncks Corner before continuing on to Florence. There, they’ll rally with other Riders from around the state.

On Sunday morning, the group will ride out from Florence American Legion Post 1, traveling through the scenic South Carolina countryside. The ride will conclude with a moving closing ceremony at the State House in Columbia.

But this ride has a powerful mission. All funds raised through the Legacy Ride support the American Legion Veterans & Children’s Foundation, which plays a vital role in the lives of military families facing unexpected hardship. From preventing eviction and keeping the lights on to providing food and shelter, the Foundation ensures no veteran’s child is left behind during difficult times.

Additionally, the Foundation supports the training and accreditation of American Legion claims experts, who offer free assistance to veterans and their families navigating disability benefits, survivor aid, the GI Bill, and more. At any given time, over 3,000 trained service officers are helping more than 750,000 veterans and their families nationwide.

One key part of the Foundation’s outreach is the Temporary Financial Assistance program, which delivers one-time grants up to $1,500 to qualifying veteran families with minor children in the home—providing critical aid when sudden financial hardship strikes. Each year, the program distributes between $250,000 and $1.2 million in support.
