IN THE CARE OF

Dunbar Funeral Home – Dutch Fork Chapel

Christine Marie Lutz Boyeson was born to Phyllis and Peter Lutz in Queens, New York, where she went to school. She later met her loving husband Warren and had her two amazing children Matthew and Amanda. The Boyeson Family moved to Irmo, South Carolina in 1995. She was the best MawMaw to Nina, Odin, Zeke and Ellie.

Christine and Warren were married on October 24, 1987. She passed away on the day of her 39th wedding anniversary.

Christine had a large village of friends that became family. When the Boyesons moved down to SC, they were leaving their lives and friends behind. Christine was surrounded by so many friends that became so much more than that. In her final days, she was surrounded by so much love from so many of the people that she blessed throughout her beautiful life.

A 1982 graduate of St. John’s Prep in New York City, New York, she continued her education at St. John’s University, where she earned her BS degree in Special Education in 1986 and her Master’s degree in Education in 1989.

After starting her teaching career as a math teacher in New York, she set her roots in the special ed classrooms of Nursery Road Elementary School in 1996.

Christine continued her career as a special education teacher at Irmo High School, where she earned the honor of Teacher of the Year.

She later moved to Spring Hill High School, where she established the school’s Special Education program. In 2016, she was recognized once again for her dedication and excellence in teaching by receiving the Teacher of the Year award.

In 2018, she joined Sandhills Middle School. Her hard work and commitment to education earned her another Teacher of the Year award. She remained at Sandhills Middle School until her retirement in 2024.

After retiring from public school teaching, she moved to Clear Dot Charter School where she went out strong, winning another Teacher of the Year award in 2025.

Once she taught a special needs child that child became one of her own children. When they were part of her life they never left her heart. She had many students that kept in touch with her for decades.

She was the best Italian cook. When you were around Christine you were never going to be hungry. She always remembered everyone’s favorite snacks, drinks or candies. She was the best and most thoughtful gift giver.

She loved birthdays. She did not keep it to one birthday. Christine had her entire birth month. If you didn’t love your birthday she made sure to love it enough for the both of you and she made certain that you were spoiled on your day.

In the summer you could find her basking in the sun by her beloved pool. She had a tan that would make anyone jealous.

Christine would want people to remember to always treat everyone you meet with kindness and respect. She saw each person as an individual and never judged. She never knew a stranger and she made friends everywhere she was. She had to go see ‘her girls’ at every grocery, fast food, doctor’s office. Errands took her twice as long because she had to make sure she checked in on her people.

A Celebration of Christine’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 8 from 2:00 until 5:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

In true Christine Boyeson fashion we will be having a party so please wear bright colors and bring your funny stories. She said no sadness at her party!

A special thank you to ‘her girls’ at SCOA and 3 Oaks Hospice that treated her like their own.
