District Five announces Lead Safety Officer

Veteran law enforcement officer Ross Wise has been named Lead Safety Officer for School District Five. Ross has served as a safety officer since 2019.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to ensure that safety and security remain at the forefront of School District Five,” Wise said. “With this new role, I’m committed to advancing a safe learning climate for all our students, staff, families, and community partners.”

Ross received his bachelor of arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, and a master of science degree in Emergency Management from Lander University. Ross earned his Class 1 Law Enforcement certification and School Resource Officer certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

Prior to serving as a safety officer, Wise was a senior deputy and school resource officer for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

“Officer Ross Wise has the presence and poise to serve admirably as the Lead Safety Officer in School District Five,” Chief of Student Services and Planning Dr. Michael Harris said. “I look forward to Officer Wise leading the charge to ensure safe practices and protocols remain in place for our students, staff and community. What better way to start the new year than to expand the District’s Safety Team and continue providing a safe teaching, learning and work environment for us all.”
