Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Allen Knotts the new Director of Facilities Operations. Knotts was approved for the new post during a school board meeting on July 11.
Knotts will begin his new role on August 15. Prior to accepting a position in School District Five, Knotts served as director of engineering at University Health Care System, where he handled engineering and plant operations for multiple facilities totaling over 1000 beds. Knotts also served as the Director of Engineering at McLeod Health and as an engineering operations manager at Palmetto Health in Columbia. While at Palmetto Health, Knotts helped with building Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge. He is also the President-Elect of the South Carolina Hospital Association Engineering Professionals Membership Group.
“I’m extremely excited and blessed to have the opportunity to serve the community within School District Five,” Knotts said. “I look forward to working with Dr. Ross and the Board of Trustees and continuing the standard of excellence that’s instilled within the district.”
Knotts received his associate’s degree in applied science from Midlands Technical College and his bachelor of science in technology management from Excelsior College. He earned his master’s in business administration from Western Governors University. He is also a certified Journeyman Electrician and MGI Health Care Electrician.
