District Five names veteran administrator principal of Oak Pointe Elementary School

Lexington-Richland School District Five has named longtime administrator Christian English the new principal at Oak Pointe Elementary.

English has served as the principal at Seven Oaks Elementary School since 2020. He previously served as assistant principal at Dutch Fork High School.  Prior to that job, he served as a Spanish teacher at Dutch Fork High and also taught at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C.

“I am excited to join the talented team of educators at Oak Pointe Elementary,” English said. “The school has a proven track record of helping students achieve academically, socially and emotionally. I look forward to partnering with the faculty, staff, families and the surrounding community to collectively ensure Oak Pointe Elementary School remains the best school ever.”

English has been an educator for nearly 20 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Wofford College. English earned his master’s degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina in 2013 and an elementary education principal add-on degree in the fall of 2019.

“Mr. English brings positive energy and a passion for loving and growing students,” said School District Five Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. “His familiarity and experience within the district will serve Oak Pointe well and continue to build on its proud tradition.”
