District Five names volunteer award winners

Lexington-Richland School District Five has named the winners for the 2020-2021 volunteer awards. Eighteen awards were given out in five categories and plaques were presented to the winners in the schools instead of the usual district presentation ceremony because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Volunteer award winners included: Laura Church, Leaphart Elementary (Elementary School Mentor of the Year); Rick Howell, Chapin Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Mentor of the Year); Silas Arendash, Irmo High (High School Mentor of the Year); Chick-Fil-A, Irmo Elementary (Elementary School Business Partner of the Year); Susan Robertson, Irmo Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Business Partner of the Year); Fully Promoted, Irmo High (High School Business Partner of the Year); McGregor Snack Pack Program, Irmo Elementary (Elementary School Volunteer Group of the Year); We Care, Chapin Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Volunteer Group of the Year); River Springs Church, Spring Hill High (High School Volunteer Group of the Year); Bekah Kunstman, Chapin Elementary (Elementary School Volunteer of the Year); Mandy Harper, Chapin Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Volunteer of the Year); Katherine Demasi, Dutch Fork High (High School Volunteer of the Year); Ballentine Elementary PTO, (Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization of the Year); Chapin Middle School PTO (Intermediate/Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization of the Year); and Dutch Fork High School PTSO (High School Parent-Teacher Organization of the Year).

“We are so thankful for our outstanding volunteers and community support who have continued to assist our schools during the pandemic,” said School District Five Interim Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. “Their involvement in our schools is valued and appreciated.”
