District Five Students Return to School with Big Plans Ahead

Students in Lexington-Richland School District Five returned to class on Thursday, August 7, ready to begin a new school year.

The district, which serves nearly 18,000 students across 24 schools, recently passed a $240 million bond referendum. The funding will support the construction of new schools, facility upgrades, and other improvements over the next several years.

With a student-to-teacher ratio of 11 to 1, District Five continues its long tradition of strong educational opportunities. The district was formed in the early 1950s and has grown into one of the most respected in the state.
