District Five students take part in Tri-District Arts Consortium

Seventy-four Lexington-Richland School District Five students are participating in the Tri-District Arts Consortium (Tri-DAC). Tri-DAC is a 3-week summer program for middle school students talented and gifted in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, or the visual arts.

Students are nominated by their parents or teachers to audition for the program. Auditions are held yearly in March and Tri-DAC is held the first 3 weeks in July, culminating in a two day festival showcase. Irmo Middle School’s Band Teacher, Lorrie Turner, is serving as Tri-DAC’s Symphonic Band Director.

School District Five students in attendance for Band include: Tucker Andrzejewski, Jaymes Bartel, Isabel Brownfield, Levi “Finn” Bundrick, Renesmee Deese, Sophia DeLara, James Farrell, Riley Frith, Mateo Holmes, James Kellahan, Nathan Key, Bailey Lunsford, Taryn Lybrand, Jungwon Oh, Keenan Reynolds, Charlotte Soura, Clayton Harrison Walsh, Hadessah Wright and Daniel Yeh.

School District Five students in attendance for Strings include: Mustafa Azhar, Kendel Choplin, Jonathan Dean, Ryker DeVriendt, Emma Easterling, Andrew Feng, Edward Feng, Carmen Malaya Flores, Walker Gaskins, Brenna Lang, Kennedy Hampton, Nora Hanson, Lauren Hurst, Cassidy Huey, Kinsey Johnson, Jia Jun, Danika Kochems, Maddox Nie, Owen Norris, Prisha Regmi, Annaleah Shelley, Elizabeth Yong and William Wang.

Each day is filled with classes, events and guest artists, as well as off-campus field studies, all combining for an exciting summer program.

Formed in 1985, Tri-DAC has offered fine arts summer programs to rising sixth through rising ninth grade artistically gifted and talented students in Lexington-Richland School District Five, Lexington School District One and Richland School District Two.
