IRMO – School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties will host an Escolares Pathway Information Night on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Irmo Middle School from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for families to learn more about the Escolares Pathway, meet district personnel, and speak with school administrators and teachers.
Escolares in School District Five represents the district’s collection of academically gifted magnet programs, offering a continuous educational pathway for students beginning in second grade and continuing through tenth grade.
To participate in the program, students must apply online during the District’s Magnet and Choice Application period, which runs from November 20, 2025, through January 28, 2026. Students currently enrolled in an Escolares program do not need to reapply.
The Escolares Pathway serves students beginning in second grade at Harbison West Elementary through the Escolares Academy, continuing at Irmo Middle School through the I AM Escolares program, and advancing to Irmo High School through the This Is Escolares program. This Is Escolares provides a pathway for ninth- and tenth-grade students into the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes for their junior and senior years at Irmo High School.
