This school year, District Five is making sure no student goes hungry by offering free breakfast and lunch to all students, thanks to their participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This initiative, part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, allows schools with a high percentage of low-income students to provide meals at no cost to families.
The following schools in District Five will be participating:
- CrossRoads Intermediate School
- Dutch Fork Elementary School
- Dutch Fork High School
- Dutch Fork Middle School
- H. E. Corley Elementary School
- Harbison West Elementary School
- Irmo Elementary School
- Irmo Middle School
- Irmo High School
- Leaphart Elementary School
- Nursery Road Elementary School
- Oak Pointe Elementary School
- Seven Oaks Elementary School
All students enrolled in these schools can enjoy breakfast and lunch without charge. Meals will adhere to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines to ensure they are healthy and nutritious.
Parents or guardians who prefer that their child not participate in the program can discuss the matter with Shana Catoe, the Student Nutrition Coordinator. For those wishing to make a formal appeal, requests can be submitted either orally or in writing to Ms. Catoe at 1020 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, SC 29063.
For additional information, you can reach out to Shana Catoe directly.
