Both Dutch Fork and Irmo baseball teams have stayed in action during Spring Break.
The Silver Foxes enter Wednesday with a 2-0 record at the Forest Acres Classic at A.C. Flora High School. They opened the tournament Monday losing 4-2 to Miller School of Abermarle out of Virginia.
Matthew Rollison homered to tie the game at 2-2 at the top of the sixth inning. The Mavericks scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the win.
Dutch Fork’s bats came alive in Tuesday’s game against Brookland-Cayce. It pounded out 13 hits in the 10-2 win over the Bearcats led by Alex Towney going 2-4 with 3 RBI.
Boykin Bickey went 2-3 with 2 RBI and Ethan Offing homered in the sixth inning. The Silver Foxes scored three runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
Dutch Fork was scheduled to face host team A.C. Flora Wednesday in a 5-inning game due to weather. Depending on the outcome, it will play either at 9 am (fifth place game), 11:30 am. (third place game) or the final at 3 pm
Meanwhile, Irmo headed to Belton-Honea Path winners of four straight Region 5-4A games. They opened the tournament Monday with an 11-0 shutout win over West-Oak.
Mason Burdette needed just 68 pitches in five innings for the win. He struck out four and allowed just two hits.
Offensively, Jayllen Fray went 2-3 with 2 RBI and both Ty Rivers and Dylan White both had 2-run singles.
On Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets dropped two games to Pendleton (11-0) and Powdersville (13-2). They closed out with the host team Bears.
