A week after winning a third straight state title, Dutch Fork running back Maurice Anderson closed out his high school career with an All-Star victory.
He was the only Silver Fox player selected to the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Anderson contributed a 3-yard touchdown run for the North in the 24-7 victory over the South.
At Spartanburg High School, teammate defensive back Elgin Sessions and quarterback A.J. Brand and offensive lineman Ryan Love competed in the Shrine Bowl. The South Carolina Sandlappers were defeated 49-24 by the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Brand picked up another honor in the game, however. The Virginia Tech signee had 88 total yards and a touchdown to earn South Carolina MVP honors.
In other All-Star game news, Irmo wide receiver Donovan Murph was invited to the Under Armour All-American Game Jan. 2 at Spec Martin Stadium in Deland, Fla.
He will join Ridge View wide receiver and University of South Carolina signee Jordon Gidron on the roster. Both players moved up their graduation dates a year, with Gidron still undecided on his final choice.
