Firefighters’ Food Drive Feeds Over 500 Families

The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) marked another successful year of giving with its annual Firefighters Feeding Families holiday food drive. For the second consecutive year, the initiative provided over 500 bags of food to local households in need.

On December 20, members of Richland County Council and the Columbia City Council joined firefighters at CRFD headquarters on Laurel Street to help distribute grocery bags to residents who requested assistance. The demand was evident, with lines of recipients stretching several city blocks at times.

This year’s effort was made possible through the support of government leaders, local businesses, and the community. CRFD expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the food drive a success, ensuring many families could enjoy a more secure holiday season.
