It was a successful weekend for some former Dutch Fork and Irmo players on the college level.
South Carolina State’s 54-7 victory over Morgan State clinched the Mid-Eastern Conference title. The Bulldogs were led by an offensive line with local ties including Cam Johnson (Dutch Fork), Eli Williams (Irmo), a running game with Dedrick Starkes (Irmo), wide receiver Nicholas Sowell (Irmo) and freshman cornerback Tyler Jones (Dutch Fork).
The Bulldogs close out the regular season Saturday at home versus Norfolk State.
In the Upstate, former Dutch Fork wide receiver Antonio Williams continues to show improvement for Clemson. He had a career-high 13 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns in the 24-20 victory.
For the season, Williams leads the team with 63 receptions for 617 yards and eight touchdowns.
Clemson plays host to The Citadel Saturday and ends the regular season Nov. 30 against South Carolina in Death Valley.
Speaking of the Gamecocks, safety Nick Emmanwori had 11 tackles in the 34-30 win over Missouri.
He leads the team in tackles with 71 and is tied with Jalen Gilgore for the team-lead in interceptions (4).
The Gamecocks play host to Wofford at 4 p.m. Saturday.
