In a display of goodwill and sportsmanship, Gabriel Penfield, who contested a council seat in November’s elections, presented a commemorative plaque during the Irmo Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, congratulating Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson on his first meeting as mayor.
Despite a closely contested election where Penfield narrowly lost to Phyllis Coleman, his gesture highlighted a commitment to unity and collaboration within the Irmo community. The commemorative plaque serves as a symbol of respect and recognition for Mayor Danielson’s leadership.
A special election to fill the vacant council seat left by Mayor Danielson is scheduled for late February, offering the community an opportunity to participate in the democratic process once again.
