Hundreds of Classic Cars and Thousands of Visitors Expected at Moore Park
IRMO – Get ready for the rumble of engines and a blast from the past as Irmo prepares to host the Grand Finish of the 2025 Hemmings Motor News Great Race on Sunday, June 29, at Moore Park. The nationally renowned event will mark the end of a 2,300-mile journey for over 130 antique cars, and residents are invited to take part in the celebration.
This year’s race began nine days earlier and winds its way through 17 cities before finishing in Irmo. The event is free to attend and expected to draw thousands of visitors to the area.
Moore Park, located at 7473 Church Street, will open at noon. Spectators will have the chance to view the beautifully restored vintage vehicles up close, meet the drivers and navigators, and enjoy live music and giveaways from 93.1 The Lake, which will be set up at the amphitheater.
Cars are expected to begin crossing the finish line between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m., with a special presentation of the Top 10 finishers at 4:00 p.m.
Food vendors will be on-site, including Tasty Tikka, Grumpy’s Cocina, Beat the Heat Lemonade & Sweet Treats, and Kona Ice. Car clubs and local businesses will also have booths set up for visitors to enjoy.

Now in its 42nd year, the Great Race features antique vehicles built in 1974 or earlier. This year’s oldest entries include a 1913 Chevrolet, a 1916 Hudson, and a 1918 American LaFrance fire engine. Drivers from around the world, including countries like Japan, England, Australia, and Canada, will compete for a total prize purse of $160,000.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, stay hydrated, and arrive early. Parking will be available at Moore Park via the Church Street entrance. Additional parking and shuttle service will be available from Union United Methodist Church on Woodrow Street. The Eastview Street entrance to the park will be closed for race vehicle access.
