Hootie & the Blowfish, the iconic band that took the music world by storm in the 1990s, will be performing at the Colonial Life Arena on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 pm. Known for lead singer Darius Rucker’s soulful voice and chart-topping hits like “Hold My Hand,” the band’s rise to fame is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Formed at the University of South Carolina, Hootie & the Blowfish spent nearly a decade refining their sound before achieving massive success with their self-produced album, Cracked Rear View, released by Atlantic Records in 1994. The album became a cultural phenomenon, selling over 16 million copies in the U.S. and earning the band multiple Grammy Awards.
Despite parting ways with Atlantic Records in 2004, the band continued to tour and retain a dedicated fanbase. After a brief hiatus, they made a powerful comeback in 2019 with a sold-out tour and their first new album in nearly 15 years, Imperfect Circle.
Tickets for the upcoming concert are available online at Ticketmaster.com starting on the first day of the general public sale. If tickets remain, they will also be available for purchase at the Prisma Health Box Office inside the Colonial Life Arena on the following Ticket Tuesday. Fans won’t want to miss this opportunity to see Hootie & the Blowfish live in Columbia.
