New Facility-Use Agreement for Irmo Little League and Richland County Recreation Commission Baseball
School District Five is pleased to announce a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Richland County Recreation Commission, marking the beginning of a long-term partnership for the use of the H.E. Corley Elementary baseball field, known as Field 7. This agreement is a significant step forward in fostering community engagement and providing enhanced opportunities for local youth sports.
Key Components of the Agreement
The MOA comprehensively outlines several critical aspects of this partnership:
Access and Usage: The agreement clearly defines the usage rights of the baseball field. The district will retain ownership and priority for daytime use, from approximately 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This ensures that our students have uninterrupted access for school-related activities. In the evenings and on weekends, the Recreation Commission and Irmo Little League will have the opportunity to maintain and utilize the field, thereby maximizing its use and providing more recreational opportunities for the community.
Partner Parking: Dedicated parking arrangements have been established to accommodate both school and community participants. This will ensure smooth transitions between school and recreational activities, minimizing disruptions.
Maintenance and Custodial Services: The agreement includes a detailed plan for the ongoing maintenance and custodial services of the field. This collaborative effort will ensure that Field 7 remains in top condition for all users, enhancing the overall experience for players and spectators alike.
Liability Insurance: Both parties have agreed to maintain appropriate liability insurance to protect and ensure the safety of all participants and stakeholders involved in the use of the field.
Communication Plan: A structured communication plan has been put in place to facilitate ongoing dialogue between the school, the Recreation Commission, and Irmo Little League. This will ensure that any issues are promptly addressed and that the partnership continues to thrive.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Principal Melanie Harris for her leadership and dedication in making this agreement possible. Additionally, we are grateful to the Richland County and Irmo Little League representatives, including Bobby Jensen, whose invaluable contributions have been instrumental in finalizing this partnership.
This partnership is a direct response to the growing local interest in the Irmo Little League, fueled by their recent successes in the Little League World Series. By providing access to Field 7 for evening and weekend activities, School District Five supports the development of young athletes and fosters a sense of community pride and engagement.
In conclusion, this MOA not only enhances the use of the H. E. Corley Elementary baseball field but also strengthens community ties, offering expanded opportunities for our youth. We are excited about the positive impact this partnership will have and look forward to seeing our community thrive through sports and recreation.
