Hailing from Florida and currently residing in Columbia, South Carolina, artist Jen Carmiel is renowned for her figure paintings. Growing up amidst the serene beauty of Florida’s freshwater springs, Jen found inspiration in nature. In 2023, she moved to Columbia, drawn by the city’s vibrant art scene. Her captivating works have been showcased in six art gallery exhibitions and featured in seven online publications, now adorning over 30 collectors’ homes and the Irmo Town Hall.
The Spark of Creativity:
Jen’s decision to pursue art wasn’t defined by a single moment but by a persistent desire to capture the world’s beauty on canvas and paper. Her artistic journey began in childhood with a fascination for drawing. At eight years old, she attempted a self-portrait in a lined notebook but felt it didn’t quite capture her likeness. This experience sparked a lifelong dedication to artistic growth. Since 2013, Jen has filled countless sketchbooks, each a testament to her evolving talent. She continued her education at a specialized art high school and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Florida in 2020.
Inspiration Blooms:
Art has always been a guiding light for Jen, offering solace in uncertainty and comfort during struggles. She aims to create artwork that provides viewers the same solace it brings her. Everyday objects inspire her creativity, and she finds joy in romanticizing the ordinary. Coffee, flowers, pets, and seemingly insignificant daily moments often become central themes in her work. Jen believes that contentment lies in appreciating what we already possess and celebrating life’s small joys.
Beyond the Canvas:
When not wielding her brush, Jen enjoys exploring new cafes, indulging in romance novels, and spending quality time with her feline companions.
