Seven Oaks Elementary School Global Magnet School student McKenzie Samuels and teacher Rehana Hakimji have been recognized as the Irmo Chamber of Commerce’s Student and Teacher of the Month.
Principal Dr. Angie Slatton praised McKenzie for her leadership and positive impact on the school community.
“McKenzie loves supporting her school community. Her upbeat and caring personality, combined with her motivation to succeed, make her a natural leader among her peers,” Slatton said. “She consistently goes above and beyond in every part of school life—academically, socially, and personally. She is a kind friend who is loved by all. Her positive attitude, generosity, and strong work ethic make her a genuine blessing to any class she joins. We are so thankful she is a part of our school.”
Hakimji was also honored for her dedication and instructional excellence. Slatton noted that Hakimji is the school’s current Teacher of the Year.
“Rehana Hakimji is supportive of her team and is always available to lend a helping hand,” Slatton said. “She inspires her students by thinking outside the box and teaches in a way that meets their individual needs. Her patience and kind nature make her a joy to work with each day. She works tirelessly to ensure her students feel loved and are growing into global citizens. Our school is a better place because of her.”
The Irmo Chamber’s Student and Teacher of the Month program recognizes outstanding contributions to education and leadership within the community.
