The Irmo Town Council has proudly announced the renaming of Irmo Community Park to Moore Park in honor of longtime Town Attorney Jake Moore, Sr. This tribute, unveiled at the council’s July 16th meeting, recognizes Moore’s significant contributions and dedication to the Irmo community and the Midlands area.
During the meeting, a proclamation was adopted to highlight Moore’s extensive service. His commitment is particularly notable through his involvement with the Irmo Arbor Day Committee, where he helped plant over 2,000 trees throughout the town. Additionally, Moore played a crucial role in securing land for the Irmo Veterans Park, ensuring a lasting tribute to the service and sacrifice of veterans.
“You’ve done so much,” remarked Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson, reflecting on the profound impact of Moore’s work. Moore responded with heartfelt gratitude, saying, “This means more than you know,” upon hearing the proclamation.
In further recognition of his contributions, an official plaque will be placed on the Prisma Health amphitheater at Moore Park, serving as a lasting testament to his efforts.
