Irmo dominates Little League Baseball World Series opener

By Thomas Grant Jr.

The first-ever appearance in Williamsport, Penn. for Irmo Little League opened in ‘grand’ fashion Thursday afternoon.

Joe Giuletti’s grand slam highlighted a six-run second inning that lifted Irmo to a 13-0 win in four innings over Braintree American to open the Little League World Series.

The Texas native also struck out eight batters, six in succession, and walked one in 3 1/3 hitless innings. He was relieved by Brody Miller, who allowed a two-out single before closing out the game with a putout.

Andrew Bogan and Ryder Tillitiz also drove in runs and Irmo capitalized off back-to-back wild pitches to score twice in the third inning.

Irmo improved to 12-1 in the post-season and will await Friday’s winner between Northwest Region champion (Bonney Lake/Sunner) and Mountain Region (Summerlin South). The winner’s bracket game is set for 3 p.m. Monday on ESPN.
