Irmo High School senior Brandon Crawford has been named the 2023 South Carolina Region 5 4A Player of the Year.
“Receiving this award made me feel relieved that all the hard work I’ve accomplished finally paid off,” Crawford said. “I didn’t let down the people that helped me become the person and player that I am today.”
In his second year playing center for the Irmo High School varsity boys basketball team, Crawford has averaged 15.2 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 5.2 blocks per game (124 total blocks this season).
“I have never coached a player who has had a greater impact on the defensive end of the floor than Brandon,” Irmo Basketball Coach Tim Whipple said. “He literally changes the offensive approach of our opponents. He has been the centerpiece to our success this year and is most deserving as the choice for 4A Player of the Year.
The 4A region includes A.C. Flora High, Dreher High, Irmo High, Lugoff-Elgin High, Richland Northeast High, and Westwood High.
