A tournament that sends its champion to the Junior League Softball World Series is coming to Irmo this summer.
The Junior League Softball Southeast Region tournament will take place July 10-14 at Friarsgate Park. District Administrator Brian Weseman made the announcement on the Irmo Little League Facebook page as part of a partnership with South Carolina District 3.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Irmo Little League and the District,” he said.
The five-day tournament will feature champions from eight southeast states. The winner will earn a trip to Kirkland, Wash. for the Junior League Softball World Series July 27-Aug. 2.
The Irmo Junior League softball team reached the championship game in 2022. It finished 6-1 with the lone loss coming to World Series champion Michigan.
