Irmo Little League will play another day at the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Mich.
Team Southeast (Irmo) defeated Team Southwest (Lubbock, Texas) 13-3 in five innings Wednesday in the loser’s bracket game.
Cooper Derrick hit the first of two, 3-run homers by Team Southeast as part of a 4-run rally to take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Team Southeast added six runs in the second inning, three on a homer by Charles Todd to go 10-3. Charles Ellis also had a 2-run double in the inning.
Team Southeast scored three more runs off Team Southwest errors to close out the game on the 10-run Mercy rule. It will now face Team Central (Elmhurst/River Forest, Ill.) at 1 p.m. Thursday.
