Irmo man arrested for kidnapping and rape

The Irmo Police Department has arrested Daquan M. Williams (35) of Irmo, in connection to a violent assault.

On March 6 around 7 am, Irmo officers responded to a call in which the victim stated they’d been raped. The victim, who’s identity will not be released, told officers a man struck them in the face, held a knife to their throat and threatened to kill them, while sexually assaulting them.

The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital and treated. Based upon the victim’s statements and physical evidence gathered at the scene, officers identified Daquan M. Williams as the suspect. Arrest warrants were obtained for Williams, and he was taken into custody shortly before 5 pm the same day.

“I am extremely proud of our Patrol, Community Services, and Investigations Divisions,” Chief Bobby Dale said. “Their hard work and cooperation resulted in the swift apprehension of an extremely dangerous person today. The Town of Irmo as well as surrounding areas are safer tonight because this individual will not be walking around our streets.”

Williams was charged with Kidnapping, Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1st Degree (forcible rape), Assault and Battery, 1st Degree and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. He will be booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Investigators believe Williams may be connected to similar cases in the area and have reached out to surrounding agencies as part of their on-going investigation.
