Irmo Okra Strut Turns 50 with Big Friday Night Concert

IRMO – The Irmo Okra Strut is turning 50, and organizers are planning a golden celebration packed with live music, community spirit, and plenty of fun. The party kicks off with a free concert on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Prisma Health Amphitheater at Irmo’s Moore Park.

This year’s Friday night lineup promises to be one for the books. Opening the evening are local favorites The Root Doctors, known for their infectious energy and soulful funk. With decades of crowd-pleasing performances under their belt, this Columbia-based band is sure to get the audience dancing early.

The celebration continues with the night’s headliner, Cowboy Mouth—a high-octane band that blends rock, blues, punk, and soul into an unforgettable live experience. Known for their explosive stage presence and interactive shows, Cowboy Mouth has played to packed crowds across the country. Now, they’ll bring that same intensity to the heart of Irmo.

“This is a milestone year for the Okra Strut,” said event organizers. “Fifty years of music, food, and community deserves a celebration, and we think this lineup captures the spirit of what makes Irmo special.”

Guests are encouraged to arrive early, bring a chair or blanket, and settle in for a night of entertainment under the stars. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Irmo Okra Strut Festival continues Saturday, Sept. 27, with a full day of festivities including the annual parade, food vendors, arts and crafts, a kids’ zone, and more live music.
