Judge Epting faithfully served the Town of Irmo for 33 years before retiring in 2018. We in the police department will always remember his jokes, his stories, and his contagious laugh that could fill a courtroom. Most importantly, we will remember his fairness — a legacy that will live on long after him.
Judge Epting passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.
Beyond the bench, Judge Epting was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man of deep faith and service, giving his time generously to his church, civic organizations, and those in need.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Nancy, his children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him. Judge Epting’s impact on our community will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Judge. Your service, your kindness, and your laughter will always be remembered here in Irmo.
