Irmo Police Make Second Arrest of Former School Official

IRMO – The Irmo Police Department has arrested Sulaymaan Benoit for the second time in less than a year.

Benoit, a former employee of Green Charter School of the Midlands, was taken into custody on October 28, 2025, and charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 1st Degree.

According to police, the new charges stem from a report by parents of a minor who alleged ongoing sexual assaults occurred while attending the school’s after-school program between August 2023 and May 2024. Investigators say the child participated in a forensic interview and disclosed details that led to the issuance of arrest warrants.

Benoit was previously arrested in February on eight counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 3rd Degree related to earlier allegations at the same school. He was terminated from his position at that time and released on bond.

The latest arrest was made in coordination with SLED and the Richland County Fugitive Task Force. Benoit was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he awaited a 2 p.m. bond hearing.
