The second set of families to enjoy Irmo Police Department’s Shop With A Cop program gathered at the Walmart on Dutch Fork Rd. on Thursday, December 16. Each year the Irmo Police Department supported by the Irmo Police Department Community Foundation lets underprivileged families shop for toys and goodies for Christmas.
“We are proud of the way the community reaches out each year,” said Hamed Javad, President of the Irmo Police Community Foundation. “The smiles on the children’s faces are worth it all.”
This year refugee families from Afghanistan were also selected to benefit from the program.
The foundation raises money in the community through events. These shopping trips are mostly funded by donations from community members and local businesses. Therefore, IPDCF asks that the community joins them in their efforts to raise enough funds to adopt as many families as possible.
