Irmo Public Hearing Nov 19th at Town Hall

A New Plan for Irmo

The Town of Irmo is developing a new Comprehensive Plan to guide future growth while preserving the small-town charm that residents value. Working with a consultant team, Irmo is engaging in a ten-year revision process, including a new Future Land Use Map, as mandated by South Carolina, rather than a routine five-year update.

The planning process, which began in fall 2023, will conclude by late 2024 and is divided into three phases:

  1. Initiation and Analysis Phase: The project team gathers data and forms a Steering Committee of local representatives to guide the planning process.
  2. Visioning and Development Phase: This phase includes public engagement and events to shape the town’s vision and set priorities. Drafts of the plan and recommendations will be made available for public input.
  3. Implementation and Adoption Phase: A strategic roadmap for implementing the plan’s recommendations will be developed. The completed Vision 2035 Plan will then be presented to the Planning Board for approval before being submitted to the Town Council for adoption.

The Vision 2035 Plan aims to balance development with community needs, ensuring Irmo grows in alignment with resident priorities.

The meeting will be Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m.: Second Reading & Public Hearing at Town Council.
