Serve and Connect sponsored a community event at Irmo Village Apartments in Irmo on Friday, June 14. The event was held exclusively for Irmo Village residents to reach out to create better relationships between the citizens and law enforcement.
Irmo Fire District brought an engine and answered questions about their profession. Lex-Rich School District Five gave away goodie buckets and plenty of Kona Ice cones.
A water balloon fight broke out and many of the first responders were targeted by the locals.
Lexington County Library offered reading passes and library information and the event had music with a live DJ.
“We love hosting these projects,” said Kimberly Dennis, Director of Operations and Strategic Partnerships. “The community appreciates the attention and they see that these first responders are real people.”
Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale was the Head Hot Dog on the grill and Hamed Javad from the Irmo Police Department Community Foundation gave boxed food items to residents through Serve and Connect.
