Senior Corporal Chris Kaderly recently completed the Hostage/Crisis Negotiations Training Program this past week at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
“It was a five-day 40-hour class,” said Kaderly. “In today’s environment, this training could prove invaluable.”The course deals with suicide, mental illness and situations that teach officers how to interact when they are in situations that could lead to death or harm to other citizens with the end result being how to end it peacefully with no one getting hurt.
Currently Kaderly is the only one certified at Irmo Police Department to deal with hostage/crisis negotiations.
