The Town of Irmo has named South Carolina artist Kimberly Hunt as its Featured Artist of the Quarter, recognizing her paintings inspired by coastal wildlife, landscapes, and historic architecture.
Selected by the Greater Irmo Art Guild, Hunt’s artwork is currently on display in the front lobby of Irmo Town Hall, located at 7300 Woodrow Street. All displayed pieces are priced for sale to the public.
Working primarily in acrylics and watercolors, Hunt creates pieces designed to capture light, movement, and a sense of peaceful escape. Her paintings feature sunsets, florals, and coastal scenes that invite viewers to pause and appreciate nature.
“My work is inspired by the quiet beauty and ever-changing light of coastal and tropical landscapes,” Hunt said. “I am drawn to the way water, sky and land meet, creating moments that feel both peaceful and alive.”
Though Hunt developed a love for art early in life and originally planned to pursue it in college, her career path took a different turn. Following her retirement in 2024, she returned to the easel with renewed purpose to embrace her lifelong passion.
“After retiring in 2024, I returned to painting with a renewed sense of purpose,” Hunt said. “Each piece I create is both a reflection of the places that inspire me and a personal journey back to creativity. Through my work, I hope to evoke a sense of calm, joy, and connection, offering a moment of escape and a reminder of the beauty found in simple, peaceful scenes.”
Members of the public can view Hunt’s exhibition during regular business hours at Town Hall (8:30 am – 5 pm)
