Lake Murray hosting kayak fishing qualifier this weekend

Excitement is building for the upcoming kayak fishing qualifier event on Lake Murray, set to take place from April 26th to 28th. Hosted by Capital City Lake Murray Country, this event serves as the qualifier for the 2024 USA Kayak Fishing Team. Kayak fishing enthusiasts from across the nation will converge on Lake Murray, eager to secure a coveted spot on the elite team.

With only six spots left on the 2024 USA Kayak Fishing Team, competition is expected to be intense as anglers compete for their chance to represent the country. Participants must qualify by ranking in the top 75 of the 2023 “Angler of the Year” standings in prestigious kayak fishing series such as the BASSMASTER Kayak Series and the Hobie Bass Fishing, or by ranking in the top 50 of the West Coast Championship. Alternatively, they can qualify as a USA Kayak Fishing Team Alumni.

Miriam Atria, President/CEO of Capital City Lake Murray Country, expressed excitement about the partnership with the USAngling Confederation and the opportunity to showcase the region to participants.

The stakes are high for Team USA, as they will go on to defend their Gold medal titles at both the 2024 Pan American Championship on Lake Murray in September and the 2024 Kayak Fishing World Championship in Italy. Having emerged victorious in previous championships, the USA Kayak Fishing Team aims to continue their winning streak and uphold their reputation as world-class competitors.
