Lake Murray is site of Ladies Tournament

This month’s Midlands Striper Club fishing tournament was all about the female anglers.

The annual Ladies Tournament took place this past Saturday on Lake Murray. A total of 20 lady anglers participated and hauled in a total of 23 striped bass weighing 124.37 pounds.

There were 11 anglers who brought in a full two fish creel to the scales.

Finishing in first place with a total weight of 14.03 pounds was Cassie Hatfield from team Fish Whistle. She also won Big Fish honors with a 7.47-pound striper.

Teammate Misty Crapps was second with a total weight of 13.56 pounds and Liz Sineath from team Stone Age was third with 13.36 pounds.

Rounding out the top five were Terri Scheper from team Catch 22 with 12.78 pounds and Jennifer Lindler from team Hardcore with 12.25 pounds.

The final three tournaments of the year are scheduled to take place in Acapulco. The next is set for Oct. 21.

 Midlands Striper Club is a family-oriented fishing organization dedicated to preserving our fisheries for generations to come. Its next monthly meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Flight Deck in Lexington.
