Columbia, SC (March, 25, 2025) –David Fogleman, a local veteran who went unclaimed when he passed away will be laid to rest with military honors at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2025 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC, courtesy of Dunbar Funeral Homes. The community is invited to attend the service to pay their respects.
A procession will begin at Dunbar Dutch Fork Chapel Dunbar Funeral Home (7600 Woodrow St., Irmo, SC 29063) at 10:15 a.m., led by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Patriot Guard Riders and end at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229). There, Fogleman will be interred with full military honors.
Fogleman was born in Germany Aug. 30, 1971, and passed away on Jan. 20, 2025 in Sumter County. Following his passing, after an extensive search and investigation by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office, it was discovered that he had no family to claim his remains. Fogleman served honorably in the Air Force and retired in 2007. His primary role was an Airborne Computer Systems Journeyman. During his service, he earned numerous awards and medals including an Air Medal and Aerial Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, an AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with four oak leaf cluster, a National Defense Service Medal with one service star and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
