Mike Ward Wins Irmo Council Seat after votes are certified

IRMO, S.C. — The Lexington County Voter Registration and Election Commission has officially certified the results of the June 3 special election to fill the Irmo Town Council seat vacated earlier this year.

Mike Ward was elected with 333 votes, defeating fellow candidates George Frazier (166 votes) and Ed Greco (82 votes). A total of 581 votes were cast across both Lexington and Richland counties.

The seat was left open after the March arrest of Mayor Pro-Tem Erik Sickinger. Ward will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through November 2027.

Irmo currently has 8,493 registered voters and a population of just over 12,000 residents, according to recent estimates.
