Miss Irmo Plus, Leighton Mount, a teacher at H E Corley Elementary is supporting the District 5 Foundation as her platform this spring. She has first-hand experience with the kind of help the Foundation provides for students and teachers in our school district.
The District 5 Foundation supports the Snack Pack program which provides weekend food for students having no secure food source. This school year food is provided for over 600 students who attend all of our district schools. Local churches, businesses and generous individuals are donors to this program but funds are needed to complete these last 4 months of the school year. The Miss Irmo Plus platform can make that a reality.
The District 5 Foundation also provides emergency funds for families experiencing catastrophic losses. They fund grants for District 5 students who are pursuing science research projects and teachers who are planning innovative programs for their students but have no resources to fund these programs.
