Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet (NRES-AM) has successfully renewed its Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) School Certification.
This demonstrates the school’s commitment to making the arts an integral part of the basic curriculum and daily classroom instruction. NRES-AM has been an ABC Certified School since 2017, and this recertification continues their designation through the 2028-2029 school year.
Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet is the only elementary school in Lexington-Richland School District Five to offer Media, Visual, and Performing Arts with an extended arts rotation as well as Arts Integration in the general education classroom.
“Being ABC Certified is a celebration of our students’ creativity and the dedication of our teachers who make arts education shine every day,” said Nursery Road Elementary School Principal Karey Fisher.
ABC Certified Schools maintain an arts-rich learning environment. ABC Schools share their best practices and contribute to a variety of professional learning communities in addition to other ABC Certified Schools, such as presenting at education conferences, on OneStop Workshop and through statewide online educator resources. ABC Certified Schools support professional learning opportunities for educators in South Carolina and across the country, allowing ABC Schools to serve as models for others.
Being an ABC School is a certification process, determined by its demonstrated, strategic commitments of practice. The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) ABC Advancement Grant is to support ABC Certified Schools in their commitments. It is part of Nursery Road Elementary School’s ongoing efforts to make arts-rich educational opportunities accessible to all their students.
ABC Institute is an Arts Grow SC collective network partner. ABC Institute is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
